Gas Money

Since I am still very new to this whole web monetization thing, I am still at the low rung when it comes to revenue streams. Meaning, I depend on the “pond scum” of niches to milk all the adsense and CPA income I can out of things like Myspace resource sites, Flash Arcade sites and even a Proxy for good measure. Mostly the type of sites that come as free or cheap scripts and that “real” gurus roll their sun deprived eyes at. Don’t get me wrong, when I say “milk” I mean I am still suckling the nipple to get every little drop I can just to get by. I am too much of a noob still to be ashamed (and who in the world could ever be ashamed of nipples?).

I know there are many people making huge amounts in the above mentioned areas of the net but I am just barely getting started in even that. If I have studied correctly, my next steps are supposed to be celeb fan sites, wannabe affiliate marketing attempts and a blog without any real focus and only useful for the author himself. Hopefully I haven’t skipped a step. Now just need to figure out where to fill up at so I can continue moving down the road.

So far the income models I am setup for and using/testing are:

  • Contextual - Who doesn’t have adsense? (only adsense so far since YPN doesn’t seem to like me or my sites…don’t they realize I have had a yahoo email account for like 10 years and that should mean something when deciding to accept me!)
  • CPA - I’ve been playing mostly only with Azoogle and MaxBounty as they both work ok with myspace type sites and they don’t seem to be as picky about who they let in. I’ve even actually snuck by enough and gotten enough conversions over the time to actually have been paid by each! Have a lot to learn in this area though as I suck at converting when it comes to banners/links on a site.
  • CPM - My newest revenue stream is from my new love, ValueClick. It took me a few times applying with various sites to finally get some love back but it’s kind of cool to finally get accepted into something that is at least a little bit more picky. Now just need to find some more and learn about “chaining them” to “maximize revenue on inventory” (stuff I read and don’t know much about yet lol)
  • Affiliate Begging - I don’t know crap about affiliate marketing besides that if done by someone that has a clue, can be very very profitable. Of course I don’t have a clue but I am reading and trying to learn what I can to start playing around with affiliate marketing.

So there you have it. The contents of my noob basket containing no real eggs yet. BTW, I am only pretending to even know what each of these terms fully covers. I think I pretty much have “contextual” and “CPA” down but from what little I know, I’m not even sure how big of a picture I am missing.
